There is going to be a 2+2 meeting between the Foreign and Defense Ministers of India and Australia on 10 and 11 September over Afganistan Crisis. For this, both the Australian ministers have reached India. Australia’s Foreign Minister Maryse Penn and Defense Minister Peter Dutton will meet their counterparts in India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
This concept of meeting of two ministers of two countries is called 2+2 meeting. This is the first such meeting between India and Australia. Australia is going to meet its regional partners. In this episode, the Australian minister will visit Indonesia, India, South Korea and the US. During this visit, talks will be held to maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
Discussion on the security, stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region
Ahead of the four-nation tour, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Paine said that the 2+2 strategic strategy of the two countries, built on the shared commitment of Australia and India to keep the Indo-Pacific region safe, stable and prosperous Starting meetings is a big step on Afganistan. Bilateral relations between the two countries are at their best at the present time.
In the meeting between Penn and Jaishankar, discussions will be held on economic issues, cyber security, climate change, essential technology and supply chain. At the same time, Australia’s Defense Minister Dutton will talk to Rajnath Singh about partnership in the defense sector.
